Why should I get this done?
Once a year we recommend having a diesel exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) cleaning done. The EGR valve helps to lower your vehicle’s emissions and make your vehicle more efficient. It is responsible for creating this recirculation that allows your vehicle to get the most of its fuel. When your EGR valve is dirty it won’t be able to recirculate fuel efficiently, and your car’s emissions will get worse.
Cleaning the EGR valve will improve your vehicle’s fuel economy and performance. Not only that, but as gasses exit the engine, the EGR valve recirculates them into the intake manifold, where the engine is able to burn them again. In essence, the EGR valve helps the vehicle recycle gasses that they didn’t use which cuts down on emissions.
The EGR system of a diesel engine often accumulates carbon deposits. These deposits can negatively affect the performance of an engine. A dirty EGR valve often won’t work at all, and will need to be cleaned in order for this system to resume working.
To clean the EGR valve we use the “TerraDiesel EGR Cleaning Tool”. It applies a powerful cleaner, TerraDiesel EGR and Induction System Cleaner, into the circuit. This cleaner rapidly dissolves the deposits, eliminating the issues commonly associated with plugged EGR.
